The Return of Ymir
This is the original one-shot adventure that started it all, that Chris DMs at conventions…
Cold Open: You and your companions are held up in the god-forsaken town of Ivangaurd, nestled in the Ghakis Mountains, just north of the Dark Woods.
Your fingers hurt, your lips are chapped. You are far from home. By the gods do you miss home…
Just as you’re about to get that drink you’ve been so desperately craving, into the inn walks… a man, a huge man.
He has hunch down and squeeze through the doorframe. The wood giving a noticeable “creek”.
He is bald and is sorrowful of eye, his flesh is pallid and blue, and in his hand he carries a massive war-club.
It must be a trick of the light, but as he walks, you could swear his already impressive bulk expands, his form filling the room, his head just scraping the ceiling.
The crowded inn goes quiet, all eyes go wide and jaws slacken. Then giant man begins to speak…
The Return of Ymir is a five-hour, one-shot (Dungeons and Dragons, 5e.2024) adventure intended to be run at conventions. Miniatures, terrain and pre-generated characters are all provided. As well as dice if needed.
The adventure spans with the players all within the remote village of Ivanguard to the freezing mountains of Jotunheim (home of the frost giants).
In Ivanguard, the heroes meet the puny (by giant standards) frost giant Grog, who implorers the characters to help him win back his beloved Boreletta from the legendary giant YMIR.
Ymir has proclaims he has returned from the land of the dead, to lead the frost giants to great victory against the Known World!!
Grog just wants his girlfriend back.
He is will pay the heroes 500 gold coins each for successfully reuniting him with his beloved and help drive YMIR from Jotunheim.
